For years Disney has done a spectacular job of creating stories that quickly become favorites of fans of all ages. While Frozen is still watched — with favorite lines and songs gleefully recited — other films like Tangled are also on the minds of Disney viewers. On Wednesday, the Walt Disney Animation Studios announced a new project that will have fans of the movie jumping for joy. Tangled will be getting an animated television series, Variety reports.

The series will be set between the original 2010 film, and the beginning of Tangled Ever After — Disney's 2012 successful short. Stars Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi will return as the voices of the beloved Rapunzel and Eugene. The movie's composer Alan Menken, and song-writer Glenn Slater will also join the team and that's not all for the big names. Chris Sonnenburg (Enchanted) will serve as executive producer and supervising director on the project, while Shane Prigmore (The Lego Movie) will join as co-executive producer and creative director. The excitement is unreal.

Considering the wild success of the film — it was nominated for both a Golden Globe and an Academy Award, while Moore and Levi won a Grammy Award for the original song "I See the Light," — there are high expectations for the latest venture. The series will follow Rapunzel (Moore) as she seeks to learn more about her parents, her kingdom (Corona) and its inhabitants. Along this journey of self-discovery she embarks upon adventures along with Eugene (Levi), witty animal companions and Cassandra, a stern handmaiden who becomes Rapunzel's close friend. The series is set to premiere in 2017. (Variety)
