The Best Celeb Marilyn Monroe Moments

Happy birthday, Marilyn Monroe! Today, we celebrate what would have been her 89th year. But, it really doesn't have to be the day she was born for us to honor the iconic beauty. Her look has been recreated time and time again by countless women iconic in their own rights. The most recent was Kim Kardashian for Vogue Brasil, and even Beyoncé, Scarlett Johansson, and Lindsay Lohan have had one (or a few) Marilyn moments. Here, we take a look at the top times everyone's favorite bombshell blonde was channeled in a photo shoot, whether for a cover spread or ad campaign.

Beyoncé For Out
For its “Power” issue in 2014, Out magazine chose quite a killer combination, having Beyoncé channel Marilyn Monroe in black and white.

Kim Kardashian For Vogue Brasil
Kim Kardashian was platinum for less than a month, but she managed to squeeze in a Vogue Brasil cover shoot during her short blonde reign. Or, perhaps, she got the dye job just for this Marilyn Monroe cover moment? It was certainly worth it.

Lindsay Lohan For New York Magazine
Lindsay Lohan has evoked Marilyn Monroe quite a few times — it's kind of her thing. She posed as the leading lady for Vanity Fair, but this 2008 New York magazine spread was the ultimate. Far more provocative, it was a recreation of The Last Sitting, a book and photo shoot at the Hotel Bel-Air just six weeks before the icon passed away. Plus, in the interview, Lindsay goes on about just how obsessed with Marilyn she is. (Very.)

Michelle Williams For GQ
In 2011, Michelle Williams starred as the late actress in My Week with Marilyn, which landed a Best Actress Oscar nom. The following year, she channeled her once again for this sexy GQ cover shoot.

Candice Swanepoel For Max Factor
We had to put Candice Swanepoel’s turn for Max Factor earlier this year (Marilyn was named the beauty brand's global glamour ambassador) on our list, because it’s such a major transformation — and so Marilyn.

Kate Upton For Muse
Kate Upton shares many qualities with Norma Jeane naturally, so it’s no wonder many of her shoots have used Marilyn as a muse. She covered the 100th Anniversary Issue of Vanity Fair all dolled up Marilyn-style, but we particularly loved her dreamy (and naked) 2012 Muse cover.

Scarlett Johansson For Dolce & Gabbana
Scarjo has a sexy Marilyn Monroe thing going on even when she's not playing dress-up. But, she really went full-Marilyn for this ad campaign in 2009.

Penelope Cruz For DS Le Magazine
Penelope Cruz is a bombshell in her own (insanely gorgeous) way, but she has no problem doing it Marilyn-style, as she proved on the cover of DS Le Magazine in 2009.

James Franco At The Academy Awards
Okay, okay, this isn't exactly a photo shoot, but we just couldn't help ourselves... Michelle Williams may have gotten nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal of Marilyn, but James Franco cohosted the Oscars (to not quite as good reviews) dressed as her — at least for a minute or two — in 2011. We've got to hand it to Anne for keeping it together.
