Bristol Palin Canceled Her Wedding

Just two months ago, we were sending congratulations and best wishes to Bristol Palin after she announced her engagement to Sgt. Dakota Meyer on her blog. The daughter of the former GOP vice-presidential candidate seemed over the moon, just like any recently engaged lady would be. Not only was she excited to start planning the rest of her life with her new fiancé, but his proposal — Rascal Flatts lead singer Gary LeVox dedicated "Bless the Broken Road" to the happy couple at a concert prior to Meyer getting down on one knee — was pretty rad, too. Unfortunately, things have taken a turn. Palin won't be walking down the aisle, at least not toward Meyer, any time soon.

Her mother announced the cancellation of the wedding in a Facebook post on Monday attached to a quote which read, "Trust in God's timing. It's better to wait a while and have things fall into place than to rush and have things fall apart." In the caption, Sarah Palin wrote, "They have informed loved ones that unfortunately the announced celebration planned for May 23 will not be held."

Although they won't be tying the knot, there will still be a celebration that day...of life. "Many friends and family still look forward to getting together that day in Kentucky anyway — and the Palins and Meyers are happily looking forward to still being at 'the old Kentucky home' on May 23 to celebrate life, in general," she continued. We're all for amicable breakups, but this party seems a little difficult to imagine.

Rumors about Meyer's "secret wives" have recently circulated. In an attempt to reinforce the truth, Palin included her daughter's words about the tabloids in her post saying, "As usual, false stories and dramatically written headlines begging controversy should be disregarded, and we have faith that our privacy will be respected at this time by those with decency."

We hope Palin and Meyer are happily heading their separate ways — after that good 'ol BBQ, of course.
