We’re shivering in our boots over here after watching the just-released trailer for Crimson Peak. Directed by Guillermo del Toro and starring Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Charlie Hunnam, and Tom Hiddleston, among others, this movie looks like the truly terrifying intersection of Jane Eyre and The Ring — and, obviously, we can’t wait to see it this coming October. This is the stuff nightmares are made of, so if you're a scaredy-cat we recommend watching this promo through squinted eyes.
As for the plot: blushing bride and husband with a secret? Check. Nefarious sister-in-law? Check. Creepy old house that may or may not contain piles of decaying bodies? Double, perhaps even quadruple check. In case we’re still not making the creep-out factor clear, Stephen King called the film “fucking terrifying.” That’s what we’re working with here.
