Here’s How Many Women Prefer Masturbation To Sex With Another Human

We are still so much more willing to talk about partnered sex than the solo kind. We're more comfortable regaling our friends with sagas of what other people do or don't do to us in bed than what we do for ourselves. That doesn't mean we're not masturbating. In honor of National Masturbation Month, sex-toy retailer Adam & Eve created an infographic that reveals, among other scintillating self-pleasure stats, that a full 86% of American adults masturbate. Two-thirds of women who engage in solo sex do it about three times per week, and four out of 10 women actually prefer solo to partnered sex. The number may seem high, but no one knows your body like you do, after all. Have at it, especially since masturbation is more than just fun: Research indicates it can even help stave off cervical and urinary tract infections. That said, better communication with your partner, if you have one, can lead to greater satisfaction when you're having the non-solo kind of sex. Pick up a few communication tips here. Then, peruse the infographic below for the full scoop on self-love. May we submit "singing in the shower" as the newest euphemism in the limited lexicon for female self-pleasure?
