This App Removes All Kardashian Presence From Your Newsfeed

For better or worse, it often seems like it’s a Kardashian world and we’re all just living in it (or watching it obsessively). For anyone who wants off the island, there’s a new way to make Kim, Kourtney, Khloé, and the whole gang disappear from everyday online browsing. #KardBlock is a tool that claims to remove the clan from your feeds in the spirit of refocusing attention on “real issues.” “We don’t care about how Kanye & Kim didn’t care when Amy Schumer ‘fell over,’” reads the description for the blocking tool. “We don’t care about who the Kardashians are or aren’t sleeping with. We don’t care that Kim dyed her hair blonde. We don’t care about the Kardashians.” Roger that. Instead of caring about the Kardashians, the creators of #KardBlock want the world to know that they are more interested in Serious Problems. (Its creators profess to believing that the Kardashian’s sole positive contribution to the world has been raising awareness for transsexuality). We hear them loud and clear: Reality culture can be frivolous and can even overshadow important news items from time to time. There’s something implicitly shame-y about the way #KardBlock is being presented, though. The description seems to suggest that if you’re interested in what the Kardashians are up to, then you don’t care about anything else — that if you stop caring about reality stars, then you are clearly a more conscientious consumer. The truth isn’t quite so clear cut. It is possible to keep up with the Kardashians without being a completely vapid human being, and frankly, we think the family has brought plenty of positivity into the mix. Plus, how can you look at an adorable pic of North West and think otherwise?
