The Lilly Pulitzer Collaboration Broke Target

You didn't think you could just casually log onto Target.com and take your time buying a floral-print bikini or a flirty sundress from the Lilly Pulitzer collection, did you? Oh, dear.  Much to the dismay of the fashion flock, the demand for the collection crashed the retailer's site when it launched at 3 a.m. this morning, The Wall Street Journal reports. That might be good news for the collaboration haters, but it was disastrous for anyone hoping to get a piece of the Pulitzer action online.  Target's website and apps were so inundated that they went offline not long after launching the 250-piece range. The delay meant eager shoppers then had to wait for stores to open, where they were faced with long lines wrapping around the building. Hello, Black Friday flashback.

And then there were the product-bogarting shoppers.
Judging by comments on its Facebook page, Target is sold out of the collection online. It also doesn't anticipate getting more stock in. You'll just have to hope that someone returns an item, or that you find a rogue sundress stashed in the toy department. Anything is possible (cough).
