Olivia Palermo Wears Culottes For A NYC Walk

Sometimes, we like to clear our heads with a nice afternoon walk around the block. We take a breather from the office in our business-casual duds, or wander between coffee shops in our relaxed weekend wear. It's not an outing we thought to put much deliberation into dressing for — that is, until we saw how Olivia Palermo gets dressed for a casual midday stroll.

On paper, Olivia's outfit isn't a far stretch from what we'd wear on a walk: a warm jacket, comfortable trousers, and sunglasses. But, in practice, Palermo elevated these staples (and the overall standard for casual daytime dress) like only she can. The bottoms were breezy, pleated culottes, her toggle coat had a scuba look, and her sunglasses were an embellished, pointy cat-eye.

Breaking with seasonal color conventions, Olivia ditched the pastels in favor of a more contemporary, monochromatic look. And, whereas we'd probably pick our favorite slip-ons, Olivia reminds us that her go-to pace is a strut in sky-high, raised-back Francesco Russo pumps. Granted, Palermo consistently delivers sophisticated ensembles, whether she's walking her dog, Mr. Butler, or rushing between shows at Fashion Week. But, this raises the bar for our pedestrian adventures — just in time for the weekend, where the sun is (supposed to be) shinning and we're likely to walk the extra mile.
