Beyoncé released a remix of her song "Jealous" online on Thursday. Initially, the Beyhive (a.k.a. Beyoncé's fan club) was ecstatic — until the second verse, when they heard R&B singer Chris Brown featured on the track. Equally excited, Brown tweeted about his involvement with the song, writing: "I did the jealous remix some months ago for the Beyoncé collaboration album but it was never used. Glad you guys get to hear it." That tweet has since been deleted.
An outspoken feminist, Beyoncé is now receiving criticism for partnering up with Brown on the new single. Many see her collaboration with Brown — who was brought up on domestic violence charges against his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009 — as neglecting her feminist beliefs. Several fans took to Twitter to express their frustration.
