Revolutionary Sex Shop Founder, Dell Williams, Dies

Dell Williams may not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of sex — or sex shops, rather — but this awesome broad opened the first sex shop for women back in 1974. She died in Manhattan on Wednesday at the age of 92, The New York Times reports. Celebrate this sassy lady's life with us as we recap some of her biggest accomplishments: A woman before her time, Dell opened the revolutionary New York mail-order boutique, Eve's Garden, after a saleswoman gave her the side-eye while she tried to buy a vibrator. If that's not a woman after our own heart, we don't know who is. For four decades, Dell spoke up about women's rights, sexuality, and female orgasms because "women have a right to sexual expression,” — and because she's a BAMF. Well, we think so anyway. She'd go on to coordinate the first women's sexuality conference, is a founding member of the Veteran Feminists of America, and won numerous awards for her activism.
