Pearl Jam! The Oscars Trend You Can Pull Off

Photo: Jim Smeal/BEImages/Rex Usa
We watch the Oscars’ red carpet to play best and worst dressed with our crew over popcorn and wine — not to necessarily nab actual, relatable style inspiration. That changed tonight. While the gowns themselves don’t necessarily have a place in our closets (the lack of galas on our iCals have something to do with that), there’s one detail trend from the night that can translate into our real-person lives for some of the fancier events we have coming up: pearl accents.

Moving off the ear and neck in jewelry form, the gem appeared as an accent on the dresses of stars like Lupita Nyong'o in Calvin Klein, Felicity Jones in Alexander McQueen, and Chrissy Teigen in Zuhair Murad. While these dresses are certainly one-of-a-kind, the pearl trend is easy to pull off — especially as a way to upgrade standard LBD silhouettes. Ahead, get a jump-start on the trend with five pearl-encrusted dresses. Get ready to strand out.
