Feeling Knotty: A Simple Way To Style Your Too-Big Clothes

Of all the talk of the lack of ingenuity and eccentricity during Fashion Week, there are a few brands that always deliver imagination. Creatures of the Wind is among those wonderful weirdos we can always count on to make our eyes pop, and it does so in a way that makes us eager to shop its designs in six months and head straight home to dig in our closets to see how we can emulate them asap.  This season's DIY inspo came by way of the mesmerizing bunching and knotting happening on many of the button-front pieces. CotW's version is reminiscent of Comme des Garcons archive pieces, but we're especially into the sailor-style buttons on the maxi-skirts and tuxedo-front shirts. The bunching ranged from subtle (one tiny gather at the breast of a blouse) to major (a whole field of bunches in a skirt that'd otherwise be three feet too long), and had us thinking about experimenting with our own worn-out maxi skirts and sundresses. Using tiny elastics tied around pom poms, we can mimic this look now so it'll last until we can get our hands on the real deal. Stay tuned for our step-by-step DIY.
