Lorde Brought Cool To The Red Carpet

Let's be honest: We fully expected Lorde to kill it on the red carpet for the Golden Globes. She's young, she's not as entrenched in the red carpet school of playing it safe, and the girl knows how to break the beauty "rules." But, the singer, who's nominated for best original song for "Yellow Flicker Beat" from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, slayed more than we could have anticipated. To bring this gorgeous, grown-up-with-an-edge look to life, Lorde went for an unexpected brand — Kat Von D — for this spin on the red carpet.
Her makeup centered around a matte red lip, which paired gorgeously with her bold brows. Her eye makeup was kept fairly simple, with a flick of inky black liner and loads of lashes.

Lorde's hair, though, was where things got really good. Instead of her typical head of curls, Lorde went for a long, straight low ponytail with a deep side-part. Instead of a typical low 'do, Lorde stepped things up a notch: She accessorized her pony with black fabric, wrapped around the base of her hair multiple times.
Overall, the look was gorgeously classic with a touch of rock 'n' roll. And, it made Lorde an instant favorite on the red carpet. It also gave us some serious inspiration for our ponytail game. We can't wait to try this one out.
