Lena Dunham has reached the level of fame where a ring on that finger immediately sets off rampant speculation of a betrothal. That's exactly what happened after she posted the above photo on Instagram. Appearances can be deceiving, however, and Dunham insists that she and boyfriend Jack Antonoff aren't engaged.
When Cosmopolitan.com inquired about the mysterious ring at the premiere of Girls' fourth season last night, Dunham's friend and showrunner Jenni Konner jumped in with an explanation. "We have friendship rings, they're a stack of three, we both wear them. We both wear them on that finger because that's the finger they fit on, and those are our friendship rings. When they announced that she was wearing an engagement ring, I was, like, 'Yeah, [she's engaged]...to me.'"

The rings even confused Antonoff's mother. "He was like, 'My mom called asking if we were engaged?' She was like, on him," Dunham said. She had a logical explanation at the ready. "[I]f we were going to get engaged, we would be more creative than to do it on New Year's Eve. You don't want to be basic."
Well, pardon us, Lena Dunham. One wouldn't want her engagement tainted by it happening on such a run-of-the-mill occasion. Instead, it appears the non-basic couple rang in 2015 putting the age-old mantra, "I put my hand upon your hip. When I dip, you dip, we dip," into practice. Epic. (Cosmopolitan.com)
