Taylor Swift's Best Outfits You Can Actually Buy

Taylor Swift was born in 1989. We know this from the title of her latest album. But, maybe you didn't know the exact date of said birth: December 13. This Saturday, the singer is celebrating year 25. In honor of a quarter-century of Swift, we're remembering some of her greatest looks from year 24.
Finding herself at a crossroads in her life, Swift did what any twentysomething does: She moved to New York. (We know you've heard about it.) But, she changed much more than her zip code. Taylor used her big move out East to completely revamp her style. She played around with matching sets, brought along her new kitty as an arm piece, and explored the New York shopping scene. Now, her wardrobe looks like that of any New Yorker: sprinkled with Topshop this, & Other Stories that, Steven Alan blouses here, and Rag & Bone booties there. You know, things that never go out of style.

Sartorial renaissance aside, Taylor was killing it professionally when she wasn't shopping down Broadway. New York actually responded to Taylor's ode to her new home, naming her Welcome Ambassador not a year into her residence in the Northeast. All the while, she was working on her fifth studio album, 1989. It spawned songs so catchy you can't get them out of your head; nor can you shake them off.
This all happened in one year. Considering everything Swift achieved in her 24th year, we can't wait to see what 25 will be like.

It didn't take long for Taylor Swift to familiarize herself with the New York shopping scene. Not a month after the singer's big move to the Big Apple, Swift was spotted wearing a city-dweller's favorite, Steven Alan, as she stepped out of her Tribeca apartment building. Welcome to New York.

She may call lower Manhattan home right now, but Taylor's a citizen of the world. While out shopping in London this summer, she sported a seasonally appropriate lace dress — of course, accessorized with the obligatory Topshop hat and boots. When in England...

'Twas the summer of the two-piece set for Miss Swift. The singer frolicked in Central Park with a friend — as one does in New York during the summer, although maybe not always in Louboutin. She wore a tweed Alice & Olivia combo, inciting one of the greatest questions of 2014: Does she, or does she not, have a belly button?

Alice + Olivia Elenore Short-Sleeve Tweed Crop Top, $65, available at Neiman Marcus; Alice + Olivia Davis Bouclé Skirt, $121, available at mytheresa; Dolce & Gabbana Linda Shoulder Bag, $1345, available at Farfetch.

Matching sets were but one of many trends Taylor Swift pioneered during her summer in the city. She encouraged urban residents to try harder after hitting the gym. And, she also invited fellow cat-owners to take their felines out for a walk — so to speak. Swift has stepped out with kitty Olivia Benson a few times now, greatly growing the cat's fan base.

We can only imagine Taylor Swift's sartorial mantra must be "Dress down for what?" The singer put our airport looks to shame in Tokyo with her short, plaid Miss Patina dress and sky-high & Other Stories heels. The Aldo carry-all is more our travel speed.

It's hard to tell when celebrities go from being friends to full-fledged besties. The turning point for our favorite duo? A New York City shopping trip, when Taylor Swift proved to be the always-put-together ying to Karlie Kloss' more dressed-down-chic yang. You can add their contrasting styles to the endless list of reasons why we love them.

Much like certain bloggers like to share their #OOTD with the same backdrop every day, Taylor Swift introduces her looks to the world while casually holding open the door to her apartment building and staring at the paparazzi straight-on. When you've got a gaggle of photographers waiting for you to go on your morning Starbucks run, you might as well take advantage.
