It's no secret that pastels have been the cornerstone of celebrity hair changes recently. Just ask Kylie Jenner — or any other star with a colorist and an Instagram account. But, just when we were starting to wonder whether "classic" styles were going right out the salon window, Jessica Alba grounded us. The actress appeared on her Instagram account with sun-kissed blonde hair.
"We were going for a very beachy look with more lived-in color," said Johnny Ramirez, who, along with business partner Anh Co Tran, overhauled Alba's mane. The duo is known for their all-day makeovers. "Anh and I work so well together," Ramirez continues. "He gets that I love to duplicate California color, and he takes it over from there, executing a gorgeous haircut that totally complements the shade." To made Alba's hair really shine, Tran added extensions and some beautiful, beachy waves.

This isn't Alba's first rodeo as a blonde. (Remember her turn as a towheaded mean girl in Never Been Kissed?) That said, Jessica's announcement is unique in its delivery. Sure, she went the Instagram route, which is old news. But, she opted for a Flipagram — with a Missy Elliot soundtrack, nonetheless — instead of the typical one-and-done photo.
"Jessica was like, 'Can I take my before-and-after pictures with my phone?'" Anh says. "She was really one of the sweetest, most down-to-earth women we've ever met." We totally dig her Insta post, too. You get to see Alba's transformation from chestnut brown to blonde, along with a snap of her mane in foils. Could this be the start of a new trend in hair-change announcements? We'll be keeping our eyes on Instagram.
