You know those nights when it seems like everyone is throwing a birthday party at the same time? Well, "this week" is the metaphorical night and "every type of event you can imagine" is the metaphorical birthday. Food festivals, film festivals, sample sales, lectures, you name it. It's all happening over the next few days. To help keep your calendar in check — you've gotta leave some time for sleep! — we've picked the top eight events to hit up over the next few days.

Bling 'em out, bling 'em out.

Visit the French Embassy
To celebrate the opening of NYC's only bookshop and reading room for French and English books alike, Albertine is hosting a free six-day festival featuring French and American artists, designers, and thinkers. Festival Albertine events will include Didier Grumbach and Anne Valérie Hash from the world of French fashion, and Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner in conversation with Engrenages creator Alexandra Clert. See a movie...or ten!
The New York City Independent Film Festival is happening this week and the lineup is looking good. With Lisa Kudrow, Janeane Garofalo, Fred Willard, and Alysia Reiner taking center stage screen, you'll undoubtedly be tempted to purchase tickets to each and every show. And, the even better news is that tickets are around only twelve bucks a pop!

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Vogue Italia's editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani has joined forces with Peroni Nastro Azzurro to create a video exhibition inspired by the ever-stylish publication. The exhibit is free and open to the public for a week starting this Wednesday.

Hang with the top dogs.
Have a cocktail with Joe Zee (Old Navy’s Fall Style Ambassador and Editor-in-Chief and Creative Director of Yahoo! Style) this Thursday at the newly renovated Old Navy store in Chelsea. He'll be on-site offering styling tips and snapping selfies. Plus, be one of the first 200 guests and you'll receive a free tote.

Attend a debutante ball.
This is no typical "deb" ball. Debutaunt, an interactive dance experience, invites audience members to watch as darling debutantes prepare for induction into society. Upon entry, guests are greeted by the charming mistress of ceremonies, Martha McMillen. Who knows where the night will go from there?

Wine and dine at the sixth annual NYC Wine & Food Festival, which brings together chefs, winemakers, and TV personalities from around the world. The event — which includes tastings, cooking classes, and intimate dinners — also supports Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry® campaign and Food Bank For New York City. So, eat up!

Travel through time via vintage prints.
After a two-year hiatus, the International Vintage Poster Fair returns to NYC to celebrate a century's worth of vintage posters. This year’s feature exhibit, “Ideas and Innovation,” showcases vintage posters documenting the innovative products and technologies that have changed our lives over the years.
When: Friday, October 17 from 5 to 9p.m.; Saturday, October 18 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday, October 19 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
