UPDATE: George Clooney and his new wife, human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin, have made their first public appearance as husband and wife. The newlyweds hopped on a vaporetto in Venice in their Sunday best, breaking a million hearts in the process. Looking good, Clooneys.
Bono, Bill Murray, Cindy Crawford, Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Anna Wintour, and a host of other celebs are pleased to announce that, yes, George Clooney is off the market. Commence tears and anguished rending of garments champagne toasts and hearty congratulations.
The couple were wed in a twilight ceremony at Venice's Aman Canal Grande Hotel before their nearest and dearest celebrity pals, who arrived by water taxis. Clooney and Alamuddin will have a civil ceremony on Monday at the Palazzo Cavalli next to Ca' Farsetti, which serves as Venice's town hall.
The tuxedo-clad groom joked with photographers and onlookers as the ceremony was about to get underway. And, with every big name cruising in for the big day, it looked like quite a fun, festive affair.
