The Emmy Red Carpet's Most Amazing Plus-Size Looks

One of the happiest surprises at the Emmy Awards — besides, you know, all those awards that people won — was the number of amazing plus-size looks on display. Not that plus-size ladies don't typically bring it on the red carpet, of course. But, for Hollywood, where the idea of body diversity often starts at a 0 and stops at a 6, tonight's parade of curvy women in killer gowns was truly an embarrassment of riches. (It made us so happy, we'll even forgive the fact that half of them were from Orange Is The New Black.)
Click on to see the plus-size ladies who truly brought it at the Emmys — we can't help but think Melissa McCarthy has something to do with all the fabulousness ahead...

Danielle Brooks
The actress better known as Taystee, OINTB's resident math whiz and blonde weave-lover, steps out in a form-fitting white gown with a dramatic netted bodice — and a thigh-high slit to rival anything at the VMAs.

Dascha Polanco
Brooks' fellow OINTB cast member took to the red carpet in full-on Grace Kelly mode, complete with with double-take, mega-carat jewels and tons of tulle.

Allison Tolman
Fargo's breakout star Allison Tolman may have lost the Emmy, but in this fetching jewel-tone Romona Keveza gown and Swarovski bag, she brought all kinds of life to the red carpet.

Melissa McCarthy
When McCarthy famously reported that she couldn't get anyone to design a red carpet dress for her, fashion got its act together, quick. Here, she wears a lovely custom Marchesa gown with an intricately jeweled cinched waist — proving that sometimes, it pays to put fashion folks on blast.

Lena Dunham
Some will protest the inclusion of this divisive look. But, props to Dunham for taking this very tricky Giambattista Valli couture look for a spin IRL, and for standing out from every other attendee. As Dunham Tweeted before the event, "All I’m gonna say about my Emmy dress is that it looks like cake and feels like sweatpants #loveandjoy.” Now, who can deny that is the perfect combination?

Adrienne C. Moore
The OINTB star's flared bustier and gently fluted, sparkly skirt make a fine case for sleek separates in lieu of a poufy, red carpet dress. We think the ever-unpretentious Black Cindy would approve.
