The pages of Vogue have always provided a bit of fantasy for us. Beautiful people, beyond-belief destinations, and clothing so pretty you could cry. Although, the price tags attached always seem to have that tear-inducing effect, as well. But, for the July issue featuring Lupita Nyong'o — the one that we've been waiting for ever since her star began to rise last summer — Phyllis Posnick dressed the Academy Award winner in something with much more mass appeal. Namely, a J.Crew swimsuit.
It's no secret that the love of J.Crew swimsuits can run deep, and we have no doubt this particular style on Nyong'o will quickly become a fan favorite. While the rest of the Marrakesh-based editorial is filled with stunning, print-rich, luxe designs from the likes of Rodarte, Proenza Schouler, and Jonathan Saunders, the $118, strapless swimsuit is perhaps the one item that doesn't have to stay relegated to the fantasy world Vogue so wonderfully creates.
