“Can’t Get Enough” (The Soundmen Remix)
Funky, electropop beats make Yeah Boy’s danceable track, “Can’t Get Enough,” one of our favorites of the summer — and this one by The Soundmen takes it up a notch. This particular remix was one of the Australian producer’s favorites that had him “dancing in his room.” With the Yeah Boy Can’t Get Enough EP coming out next week (with a remix package out June 24 on Big Beat Records), we’re sure there will be plenty more of that.
Say Lou Lou
“Everything We Touch”
Swedish/Australian sister duo Say Lou Lou have another synth-pop hit on their hands with “Everything We Touch.” Like the lyrics say, everything the girls touch “turns to gold.” Although these ladies have spent the past two years releasing singles (“Julian” and “Maybe You”), this track proves once again why we’re waiting on the edge of our seats for a full release.
“The Holy Tightrope”
The Wytches make go to the dark side with “The Holy Tightrope — the B-side from a limited-edition 7” the band will release in July. The pounding drums and psychedelic guitar riffs show the band’s homage to Pavement-like sounds. All we can say is, we can’t wait for the band’s debut album to get us all nostalgic for ‘90s grunge in August.
“Run Towards Fear”
We have a huge crush on Beast Patrol lead singer Vanessa Bley and her rock ‘n’ roll music-making style. There’s nothing we love more than some fierce female vocals mixed with roaring drums. Thankfully, we can keep listening to Bley’s voice on her new EP Unarm Yourself.
“Mind The Gap"
Danish songstress Nabiha has us mesmerized with her soulful voice and pop melodies. “Mind The Gap” is the title track from her upcoming stateside EP — a song that reminds us a little bit of how we felt when we heard Robyn’s return in the 2000s. With her ability to mix pop, R&B, soul, and electronica, we sure won’t mind listening to what she has in store for the U.S. this fall.
