The New York Police Department has discovered the body of Jay Ott, WWD reports. The 31-year-old designer, who had been missing since March, was last seen leaving his McKibbin Street apartment in Bushwick. Surveillance footage shows him in the early hours of March 23 entering the Manhattan Bridge, though it is unknown if he ever exited through the other side.
Officials recovered Ott's body from the East River Friday at 11:10 a.m. near Pier 4 in Bushwick. Now, family and friends await autopsy results. WWD reports that no funeral arrangements have been made at this time.
Ott was a Toledo, Ohio, native and was design director at The Dock Group, leading fashion houses Crippen and Rosetta Getty. He has also worked at The Row and at J. Mendel. The CEO of Ott's company told WWD, "We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague and friend. Our thoughts are with his family during this very difficult time." (WWD)
