If the brand new Masters of Sex trailer is any indication, the upcoming second season is going to be full of, well, sex. When we last saw Dr. Masters (Michael Sheen) and Virginia (Lizzy Caplan), the unrequited lovers were standing in a doorway requiting their love. The teaser is tense, filled with looks of longing, and ends with a chance encounter in a hotel — all indications that things didn't go quite as planned.
Showtime's steamy period drama about sex researchers was one of last year's breakout hits, due in large part to the welcome revelation that noted funny woman Caplan has some major dramatic chops. She gets plenty of screen time in the heart-stopping 70-second spot, as do other regulars like Beau Bridges and Allison Janney. One person we don't see is brand new cast member Sarah Silverman, whose addition to the show caused major waves when it was announced late last month. Her role has not yet been disclosed, but don't be surprised if Silverman hooks up with Sheen's character at some point. The two actors are real-life lovers and that kind of chemistry is hard to fake.
