After transforming Milla Jovovich into a full-on action hero via The Fifth Element, director Luc Besson is setting his sights on Scarlett Johansson. And, while the Avengers star is no stranger to kicking butt on screen, the just-released trailer for Lucy shows her really sinking her teeth into the role of gun-toting, baddie-blazing heroine. Spoiler: It's all a bit bonkers.
In Lucy, ScarJo plays the titular character, who has a package of drugs implanted into her stomach. Once it starts leaking into her bloodstream, she can't help but turn into a super-powerful action hero, emptying bullets into villains and knocking people out with the flick of a wrist. In a plot that sounds vaguely similar to the Bradley Cooper vehicle Limitless, she's also able to maximize her brain's full potential. Learning Chinese in an hour, boning up on co-star Morgan Freeman's research in no time, becoming a brainy killing machine, you know, regular badass stuff.
Lucy hits theaters August 8 and we will so be there.
