Troi "Star" Torain is a shock jock with a radio show called Star: Live and Direct. While he may not have been on our radar before, he certainly was yesterday when Torain took to the airwaves and claimed that Mr. Shawn Carter is lying about his age. According to Torain, he and Jay Z are "age mates," which would mean the rapper is actually 50 — not 44, as public records indicate.
"I shouldn't blow this up, maybe because he doesn't promote it publicly, but Jay Z and I are the same age," Torain told a caller on his radio show. "I will be 50 on May 3. He's 43, 42... that's just media bullsh*t!"
Torain didn't reveal how he got a hold of this information, but the disc jockey has a history of saying outrageous things to get ratings, so we'll take this this for what it likely is: a publicity stunt. Unless he and Jay Z were childhood pals and attended each other's birthday parties, Torain wouldn't really have a way of knowing whether or not Jay Z is lying about his age.
Good Morning America host Bianna Golodryga once accused Beyonce of being 35, not 32, but at least she went to high school with Bey, which makes her claims somewhat plausible. Until Torain can back up his allegations with some hard evidence, we'll believe Hova. (Crushable)
