Here at Refinery29, we seek to find and showcase the coolest, most innovative, and, of course, stunning art and illustrations being made today. Enter: Tuna Bora, who hails from Turkey but has since taken up residence in the City of Angels. She's packed a slew of awards under her belt and shows no signs of slowing down.
We knew she was on to something when her latest portfolio, Musicians Collection, came across our desk. Not only do her illustrations depict a pretty portrait of each artist, they go beyond the medium and capture the artist's vibrancy. Lorde's mane is exaggerated against a cool-toned background while Daft Punk's glittering sound is found in the warm hues Bora drew with. Speaking with Refinery29, Bora said the inspiration came from "personal need to celebrate songwriters and musicians who deserve particular praise for being more than just a part of a machine, but instead have distinct taste, sound, and personality."
"I focused to highlight the current music scene, considering how it compares to progressive movements in the history of music that excite and inspire me," she continued. "The common thread being that their works are opinionated and reflective the of thoughts and feelings of a generation that might have otherwise gone unstated." We hope you enjoy these as much as we do. And, if you're itching to see more of Bora's work, check out her Tumblr, Instagram, and blog. Eye candy is one click away.
