The times they are a changing. Mashable reports on a recent survey conducted by British events company Chillisauce that reveals some fairly bizarre stats on British women and marriage proposals. Frankly, it has us questioning the sanctity of romance.
Forget about going down on bended knee in a moonlit garden, surrounded by dozens of red roses with a string quartet playing in the background. This survey of 7,000 men and women suggests that people are looking for something a whole lot simpler — and with technology playing a bigger role than ever before. Fifteen percent of women said they wanted some form of technological device to be used in the proposal, and of that 15 percent, 40 percent stated that social media would be their preferred method of proposal. Is romance dead, people? Only 6 percent thought a poem or song should be included, too.
While we applaud Kristen Bell for proposing to her boo over Twitter following the Supreme Court’s ruling against DOMA, we still believe that some of life’s most special moments are best kept private.
