Is Tech Fashion’s Best Friend?

Fashion and technology are truly fused together. And, as i-D magazine’s latest video can attest, it is a mutually beneficial relationship.
Director Ben Fries films movers and shakers from both worlds, getting their thoughts on this ever-evolving partnership. Natalie Massenet, founder of Net-A-Porter and chairman of the BFC, suggests that for a fashion business to survive, it has to keep up with technological innovation. Anything less is “instant death.” And, supermodel Coco Rocha credits social media with giving her the opportunity to “have a voice” and advises all young models starting out to do the same by setting up Twitter and Instagram channels.
i-D’s New York fashion director, Alastair McKimm, describes the photo shoot as “becoming a media event,” through the documentation of the entire process via social media. And, designers from threeASFOUR extol the virtues of 3-D printing.
