Topless FEMEN Protesters Crash Nina Ricci Runway

Another Fashion Week, another topless protest from FEMEN, Ukraine's band of boobs-out feminist activists. After years of trying, two FEMEN members actually made it onto a Paris Fashion Week runway, storming the catwalk at Nina Ricci's Spring 2014 show.
Shouting "fashion fascism" the two FEMEN protestors disrobed at Paris's Tuileries gardens, and hopped into the middle of Ricci's show. The women had the slogans "model don't go to brothel" scrawled across their bodies — written to reject the notion of Ukrainian women being sex slaves or prostitutes. After making a brief jaunt down the runway, two security guards forcibly removed the pair.

So what's the deal with FEMEN? According to their website, they consider themselves, "the new Amazons, capable to undermine the foundations of the patriarchal world by their intellect, sex, agility, make disorder, bring neurosis and panic to the men's world. FEMEN – is the ability to feel the problems of the world, beat it with the naked truth and bare nerve. FEMEN – is hot boobs, a cool head and clean hands."
This isn't the first time FEMEN's had a run-in with the fashion elite. In 2012 the group traveled to Milan to protest Versace's Fall 2013 runway show, holding signs that read "fashion=fascism."
And earlier this year, two members of the group crashed the finale of the Heidi Klum-hosted Germany's Next Top Model — one with the phrase "Heidi Horror Picture Show" written across her torso. The pair were escorted out by security.
The question remains: What do FEMEN's topless protests really accomplish? Once the pair of protesters was removed, Nina Ricci's show went on, after all. (Fashionista)
