Inside Vera Farmiga’s Emmys Prep Suite

Thanks to her performance as Norma Bates in Bates Motel, Vera Farmiga earned her first Emmy nomination this year. And, while she didn't win the statue, if there were an award for looking sophisticated yet slightly badass, she'd be a shoo-in. Farmiga accessorized her Theyskens' Theory gown with a Lanvin belt, plus a voluminous 'do and elegant makeup to soften the edge.
During her prep session at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills, makeup artist Pati Dubroff used the brand-new Marc Jacobs Beauty collection on Farmiga. Because of the ensemble's "major punk influence," Dubroff chose to play up Farmiga's features with gentle makeup.
To create the eye, she reached for Marc Jacobs Beauty Style Eye-Con Plush Shadow No. 7 in The Lolita and No. 3 in The Mod; she used bone, bisque, silver, and black colors from the palettes to define the eye. After adding two coats of mascara, Dubroff lined eyes with Magic Marc’er Precision for intensity. A bit of foundation, plus some blush on the apples of the cheek, and Dubroff was ready for the finishing touch: Lovemarc Lip Gel in Roleplay, a dusty rose with a hint of shine. Despite what you may have heard, punk's not dead — it's just prettier.
