Is This Instagram Trend Harmful To Your Self Esteem?

When it comes to Bar Refaeli, there's lots to be envious of — the hair, the skin, and especially her rockin' bod. Rafaeli is just one celeb that's offering a peek (via social media) into what it takes to get so toned with "the healthie." According to the Evening Standard, this newest brand of selfie depicts celebs — and mere mortals, of course — flaunting documenting the results of their diets and exercise routines on Instagram, Twitter, and the like.
While the ES calls out the narcissism of this behavior, we'd like to add our two cents that while we're all for promoting healthy lifestyles, we're not sure if this new trend is inspiring, or whether it will simply encourage competition and extreme diet and weight loss measures. What say you, readers? Do you appreciate (and feel inspired) when others post about their fitness progress, or do you wish that oversharers like Ms. Refaeli would keep her perfect guns to herself?
