Before you touch up your makeup or adjust your outfit like you normally would in preparation for any other Prince music video viewing, you should know that he's gone political. His first video for the new single off his most recent project, an all-female band called 3RDEYEGIRL, is called "Fixurlifeup." Sadly, there are more lyrics flashing across the screen than there are gyrating hips, but Prince's '70s afro and bedroom eyes — plus a pretty great Prince jam — make up for any lack of general Prince-isms.
He and his 3RDEYEGIRLs call for social revolution, stating "Girl with a guitar is 12 times better than another crazy band of boys." Gun control, sexism, and war make this video feel more like '90s U2 or a tribute to riot grrl-ism, which is majorly cool. Rocker Prince is still as sexy as The Artist Formerly Known As — which, come to think of it, actually makes us fan ourselves a little.
