Kerry Washington Recycles An Old Trend For The MTV Movie Awards

kerryembed
Kerry Washington doesn't get out all that much (either that, or she's found the one place in L.A. the paps don't know about). So, it always feels like a bit of a sensation when the quiet, beautiful star steps out in the public eye for a high-profile red carpet. She's made plenty of best-dressed lists employing a pretty simple sartorial strategy — her choices haven't always been risky (though there are exceptions), but her selection of demure, refined gowns from only the most respected designers has always been plenty pleasing. At the MTV Movie Awards though, she went for something slightly more daring.

Of course, when it comes to style, this event is just about as far as you can get from the Oscars without straying off the red carpet entirely. People expect a little something more and so, in theory, this skin-baring Michael Kors number with its bold colors and youthful silhouette is right on. In practice, though, we're not 100% ready to endorse. The high-low hem, while once beloved by many a Jeffery-Campbell-wearing blogger, has fallen out of favor with a lot of fashion types, of late. Plus, in this instance, the stiff fabric seems more appropriate for a shorter bubble skirt than a flowing train.
We'll try anything once (again), but this one might take some convincing. So, go ahead. Convince us. Is this a good look?
