Move over, Vera Wang! Kohl's has a new designer collab in the works, and it's big. Like, really big.
Derek Lam is taking his shot at a diffusion line for the retail giant. His collection, in stores next spring, is inspired by one of Lam's favorite cities: Rio de Janeiro (so hot right now). This is another installment in Kohl's DesigNation initiative, presumably based on the wild successes of Target's many sell-out-in-a-day designer capsule collections.
In a statement about the collection, Lam said he's "always looking to the past for inspiration, but also trying to interpret it as how we live in contemporary life...Rio is a perfect example of a place that does that and leads the way." Sounds like we can expect some cool retro-inspired duds with Lam's signature edge. But of course, we're all wondering: what does Michelle have to say about this? Will the FLOTUS indulge in a little fast fashion from one of her favorite designers? (StyleBistro)
