Listen up, everyone...this year’s coolest haunted house will NOT be open on October 31! Instead, it will be keeping the spooky spirit alive after Halloween at Friedman Benda. Yes, this High Line-adjacent gallery will be hosting Titus Kaphar’s "The Vesper Project" — a sight to see for all Halloween lovers, art enthusiasts, history buffs, and awesome-experience-cravers in NYC.
According to the gallery, The Vesper Project is "a massive sculptural statement — an encompassing installation, in which Kaphar’s own work is seamlessly woven into the walls of a 19th-century American house.” As an experiential work, The Vesper Project invites — or forces, perhaps — each visitor into an altered state of mind.
The installation is filled with carefully (mis)placed valuables, unexpected perspectives, cracked floorboards, and art of the most thrilling sort. Kaphar has put all of his wisdom — he has a Master of Fine Arts degree from Yale — and experience to work in one of his most ambitious undertakings yet.
