There’s a lot we love about the South: real BBQ, magnolias, whiskey… Our latest obsession is Rachel Martino, a New York-via-Nashville blogger whose Southern charm makes her stand out like a floral sundress in a sea of LBDs.

Martino kept her style sense mostly under wraps growing up, thanks to the button-down-and-plaid mandate of her Catholic school. Instead, makeup was how she expressed herself — at least, until she could experiment with fashion in college, where she landed on her unique blend of retro pin-up meets Brooklyn hipster. In 2013, she morphed her 4-year-old YouTube beauty channel into a full-blown fashion site that reaches millions of loyal followers.

Martino ditched the land of cowboy hats, but hasn’t forgotten her roots: Her true-to-self ‘tude is a breath of fresh air in a sometimes serious fashion world. "I want to show that you can have this New York edge but still be sweet," says Martino. "Fashion should be welcoming!" Her knack for making any trend seem wearable is why we had her put together fool-proof summer outfits with this season's standout pieces from T.J.Maxx. Ahead, guilt-free shopping nirvana awaits.

Her Must-Have Piece: The floral-print wrap dress

Now that Memorial Day has come and gone, summer wedding season — and our favorite floral prints — is in full bloom. Make a statement in an eye-catching, petal-print dress — "it’s sweet enough to be dress-code appropriate, yet bold enough to stand out among all the pastels," says Martino.

"A wrap dress can be worn to everything from weddings to work," says Martino. "This is the kind of designer item you want in your wardrobe because it’s so versatile." And, while you might be able to justify splurging on a multipurpose frock, you can score this one for a fraction of what you spent on gifts for the happy couple.

    The Scene: Soiree at sea
Her Must-Have Piece: The ruched swimsuit

Okay, all of our yacht-party invites must have gotten lost in the mail. But, that doesn’t mean we don't love the idea of basking in the sun while cruisin' the high seas. And, whether you're on a legit ocean liner or a modest dinghy, you can always look luxe. "Everyone always goes for a bikini, but this suit is so flattering because of the ruching on the waist," says Martino. "It’s great for someone who’s not comfortable in a two-piece."

The bold floral print balances out the ultrafemme silhouette. "It gives you a thoroughly modern look in a retro silhouette," says Martino. "Who says one-pieces can't be sexy?"

    The Scene: Romantic rendezvous
Her Must-Have Piece: The perforated-leather dress

You can never go wrong with an LBD, but the classic look gets an edgy update in this laser-cut leather minidress. "It’s so New York,” says Martino. "Chic, but with a sexiness that makes it perfect for date night."
