Fringe Benefits
As one of the biggest trends this season, fringe is making an appearance on everything — from bold accents on rocker-worthy jackets to soft trimmings on snuggly capes — so there's basically a guarantee that you'll find a fringed something that tickles your fancy.

Booting Up
If you can only snag one statement piece to add to your wardrobe this fall, make it a tall boot. Whether you're going sleek with stilettos or fabulous with flats, a tall boot — over the knee or just under it — will add that perfect crisp touch to every ensemble.

The '70s Called
There always seems to be some sort of retro revival coming 'round, and this season the '70s are back in full force. But unlike that disco diva glamour we've seen before, this fashion flashback is much more Love Story than Studio 54. Look for dustier, subdued hues, an excess of button accents, and unfussy cuts (but with eye-popping prints).

Easily Persueded
Maybe it's the plush fabrication, maybe it's the high-maintenance factor, but an addition of sumptuous suede to any ensemble really leaves you looking and feeling luxurious. Layer in a posh piece — whether real or faux suede — to amp up your outfit's textural interest.

Plaid Out
While plaid for fall might be like florals for spring — utterly not groundbreaking — there's a reason that it's popular year after year. The ubiquitous print can be found on basically any type of clothing this fall, and in a wide variety of oversized checks and classic tartan prints.

Items Of Flare
Flared jeans tend to give us flashbacks to high school, but we're no longer rocking frayed MUDD flares with abandon (or with baby tees). This season, the wide-hemmed look is redone in understated sophistication, so there's no reason to fear this trendy throwback.

Blanket Statements
When temps start to dip, keep your puffers packed away and break out some snuggly shearling, instead. The forecast is calling for extreme coziness this season.

Leather Weather
Leather is a seasonal staple, like our ol' friend plaid. Whether you want to cover yourself in fantasy leather realness or you're only prepared to add some subtle faux touches, this fall's offering some fresh takes on the trend.

Cape Town
It's a bird, it's a plane, no, it's just you, killin' it in a cape. Though you can never go wrong in a classic, over-the-shoulders look, sneaky cape elements are showing up on dresses and tops this fall. Toss on a cool cape, and nothing's your fashion Kryptonite.

Culotte & Collected
Possibly the most polarizing pants out there, culottes are seriously worth trying out. To update from spring's breezy bottoms, look for a style made from a heavier fabric (ahem, suede or leather) go for an on-trend print (plaid, duh!).
