You lovelies already know that we are always on the hunt for the latest and greatest lookbooks for you, and among the heaps coming in with the holiday cards, Nomia's spring '11 offering really stood out from the pack. The line, created by 27-year-old designer Yara Flinn in '07, takes inspiration from video artists and sculpture installations, as well as Flinn's previous stints at Fondazione Prada and United Bamboo. For spring, the collection channelled athleticism, specifically basketball, for the WNBA star who looks like she definitely lives below 14th Street. Peep the b-ball references in tie-front skirts that mimic a jersey tied around your waist, and in mesh and net utilized so niftily in the slashed shorts. Flinn must have been clocking in extra gym hours—she was also aesthetically galvanized by bandages and sports-medicine wraps. The idea of being restrained and tightly wrapped is echoed in the structured cropped topper and that killer white bandage dress. And despite the sweaty references, Yara nails the edgy and effortless downtown cool along the lines of say, Pamela Love, who coincidentally happens to be palsies with Flinn. The shots are major impetus to get us back to the gym (they're tight man!), even though we're not planning to hit the courts anytime soon.
