We've seen plenty of national beauty-event tours in our day, but this might be the first one that breaks all the usual rules. Most makeup companies invite people to come in, get a makeover, and see which of its products would work for them. But a beauty tour in which a brand teaches visitors how to use make-up they already own? Now, that is quite another event entirely.
Starting in February, Make Up For Ever is inviting fans to swing by its mobile tour — from Los Angeles to Toronto and many places in between — to get consultations from its team of professional makeup artists. But here's the genius part: The lessons are brand-agnostic, which means that visitors can bring products they already have, regardless of the company behind them. The idea, then, is that Make Up For Ever helps those stuck in a rut by "mixing up" their products — along with any suggestions from the Make Up For Ever team to round out their routine. (Sure, the brand is promoting itself, but what an ingenius and useful way to do it!)
To get on board, you can sign up for time slots and cities starting tomorrow, January 23. The tour goes as follows:
Los Angeles, CA: February 1 – 3
San Francisco, CA: February 9 – 10
Las Vegas, NV: February 16 – 17
Dallas, TX: February 23 – 24
Miami, FL: March 2 – 3
New York, NY: March 9 – 10
Boston, MA: March 23 – 24
Chicago, IL: April 6 – 7
Toronto, ON: April 13 – 14
And because every great tour demands a good souvenir, Christina Ricci has designed a studded, faux-leather makeup bag ($30) available at the events. Those stopping by don't get to meet Ms. Ricci, but her rock-n-roll-inspired bag might be the perfect way to celebrate your makeup's new makeover.
