While a lot of D.C.'s homegrown talent migrates north to New York, every now and then, design-savvy types put it in reverse and move their creative endeavors to our fair city. Such is the case with jewelry designer Jane Pope Cooper, who popped up on our radar when she moved to Washington last spring, and whose delicate, subtly earthy necklaces, earrings, and bracelets won us over instantly.
Pope Cooper designs a high-end namesake line chock-full of precious metals and covetable stones, as well as a more affordable line, called Balboa, so fans can get their fine jewelry fix without shelling out a bundle. The designer incorporates vintage materials and found objects, and takes inspiration from her grandmother's jewelry collection — so you can expect plenty of charms, tasteful cuffs, and elegant drop earrings. She's got some red-carpet cred, too, with Natalie Portman and Debra Messing numbering among her clientele. Personally, we're smitten with the natural-stone pendants, the sweet-but-not-too-sweet charm necklaces, and the simple rings that mimic natural, organic shapes. We've picked out our favorite pieces from her two collections — click through to get acquainted with the best new baubles in town!
