“Black Swan Born White” is only the second single from Danish duo Reptile Youth, but the band has already managed to span a range of genres. Mads Damsgaard Kristiansen and Esben Valløe refer to their sound – a mix of angular guitar and disco-synths – as “post-pop,” a descriptor that could mean just about anything, but seems to accurately capture their medley of ideas. While the band’s crackling 16mm video plays up a doom-filled '70s aesthetic, the track is more glam than gloom, with the vocals containing only a hint of darker leanings.
