From Hideous to Hot: We Rate Fall’s Craziest Shoes

Yesterday, we produced our carefully curated list of do's and don'ts on how to stalk the streets in fall's undeniable "It" shoe, the thigh-high boot. But in case you get the urge to flash a little more leg, designers are giving you the option to strut around in everything from marabou-wrapped mary janes to boots that look like gorilla's cankles. We've picked out the wildest of the bunch and scaled them from awful to amazing (yes, math played heavily into this), with a few heels in between that are ripe for the experimenting. Shoes wisely, readers.

You'd Have To Be Crazy...

Givenchy: In case you needed your case of cankles capped with a side of hair.
Marc by Marc Jacobs: Last season, Marc's inspiration for his ultra-sexy triple-strap boots were biker babes. This season: bears.

Giuseppe Zanotti for Balmain: We vowed to go homeless for spring's Balmain studded sandals, fashion's equivalent of crack. But we refuse to house our feet in these ski boots on crack.
Miu Miu: From the front: Cute patent mary janes, typical Miu Miu style. From the back: A small rodent living on your heels.
The countdown to ultimate shoegasm continues after the jump!

Crazy With Possibilities

Lanvin: Some might be adverse to the white stitching, but tell us that roundish cone-shaped heel isn't genius. Go ahead, we dare you.
Yves Saint Laurent: We're slightly sick of the Tribute Pumps, but Pilati amped it up with a bigger wedge...and croc embossing! Jen Brill would wear these in an instant.

Balenciaga: Though it's not quite as divine as the shoes Ghesquiere turned out last season, we love the thick straps, the studs, and that colorful silk accent.
Chanel: Ladylike is Chanel's signature, but Karl injected a dose of kooky cool with the lime green ring that makes it look like you're walking with split heels.
Crazy Sexy Cool

Chloe: All the glitter, bows, and rhinestones might make this shoe polarizing, but we love it.
Louis Vuitton: Fashion meets function: The heels not only look cool, but also offer extra support.

John Galliano: Guaranteed to put every single eye in the room on you.
Nina Ricci: Olivier kissed Ricci goodbye with shoes so spectacular that Mario Grauso, the man who supposedly fired him, is probably somewhere eating his parting words.
