Update: The FBI has released a statement identifying the gunman as Mohammod Youssuf Abdulazeez, 24. "While it would be premature to speculate on the motives of the shooter at this time, we will conduct a thorough investigation of this tragedy and provide updates as they are available," the statement says.
Abdulazeez was a naturalized U.S. citizen originally from Kuwait, NBC reports. The motive for the attack has yet to be reported.

Five people are dead and three more are injured after shootings at two military facilities in Chattanooga, TN. The alleged gunman is reported among the dead. According to the Associated Press, the first shooting occurred at 10:45 a.m. at a naval recruiting center on Chattanooga's Old Lee Highway. Law-enforcement officials told recruiters on the scene that the shooter was in a car, shot at the building, and drove off; no one at the first facility was hurt. The second shooting occurred at the Naval and Marine Reserve Center at Chattanooga River Park, where an estimated 30 to 50 shots were fired. AP reports that four Marines were killed at the reserve center, and authorities announced the alleged gunman's death at 12:30 p.m. There is no confirmation about how the shooter died. According to the Chattanooga Times Free Press, witnesses described the shooter as a white male driving a silver Ford Mustang convertible. Details on the suspect, as well as how many weapons he had, are still unknown. "It is incomprehensible to see what happened — the way that individuals who proudly serve our country were treated. As a city, we will respond to this with every available resource we do have," Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berk said in a press conference.
