Guardians Of The Galaxy Drops The Mic With New Trailer

Someone give the marketing team at Marvel a raise right now. With the release of Guardians of The Galaxy fast approaching, the studio has had to rely on a sly ad campaign to introduce audiences to what is ostensibly its least recognizable franchise to date. While the first few trailers relied mostly on humor, the brand-new spot eschews the laughs and goes into full-on epic mode.
Directed by James Gunn, Guardians of The Galaxy stars Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, the intergalactic-outlaw-turned-superhero who must team up with some fellow space bandits to save the galaxy from the forces of evil. The new trailer kicks off with Pratt's voice-over explaining how he became stranded in outer space as a child. It looks like the type of origin story befitting of any hero, and gives us some much-needed context for Marvel's upcoming space oddity. We also get more of Pratt's testy relationship with Bradley Cooper's Rocket Raccoon, and their banter is delightful to watch. Zoe Saldana, Glenn Close, John C.Reilly, Benicio Del Toro, Vin Diesel, Djimon Hounsou, and Dave Bautista round out what is one of the more (inter)stellar casts ever assembled.
Guardian of The Galaxy storms theaters August 1. Watch the epic new trailer below.
