The Internet's cool kids were anointed today, when the winners of the 2014 Webby Awards were announced. Jay Z, Beyoncé, and Justin Bieber are among the more famous honorees, all of whom will be be invited to partake in the official ceremony, which goes down May 19 at Cipriani Wall Street in Manhattan.
The winners were selected by some of the web's biggest trailblazers, including Tumblr founder David Karp, news maven Arianna Huffington, and House of Cards producers Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti. People from around the world were also able to cast votes to determine the winners of a variety of People's Voice Awards, including the Best Use of Interactive Video category, which went to Pharrell for his 24 Hours of Happy video, and the Celebrity Fan Category, which went to Queen Bey for her website Beyonce.com.
Jay Z took home a Webby in the Best Music App category for his Magna Carta Holy Grail app, while Arcade Fire took home the prize in the Best Music (Film and Video) category. Justin Bieber also got back into the awards game, albeit not for anything music related. The maligned pop star's episode of Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis won the Webby and People’s Voice Award in the Best Comedy: Long Form or Series category. We were partial to the Obama episode, but if this helps Bieber get his groove back, we're all for it.
