With what seems like more celebrities than ever giving birth to babies, it stands to reason that a few of them would share the same name. But, with this week's new parents giving their little darlings relatively common monikers (Simon Cowell's newborn, Eric; Emily Blunt and John Krasinski's Hazel), the front runner of celebaby names was something of a dark horse.
Other celeb couples welcoming bundles of joy this week were Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green (their second), and Teresa Palmer and Mark Webber. With hardly 48 hours between them, these two celebabies entered the world. And, they were both called Bodhi.
What in the world is a Bodhi? We're glad you asked. Bodhi is a Sanskrit word meaning "the understanding possessed by a Buddha regarding the nature of things." In English, we'd call it enlightenment. It literally means "awakened." The celeb penchant for exotic, spiritual baby names puts this firmly within the realm of "expected famous people behavior." But, don't get us wrong, it's still a weird coincidence.
A little digging uncovered a few more celebrity Bhodis: Carly Simon and James Taylor's grandson, Oliver Hudson's son, and, OF COURSE, Menswear Dog. So, maybe the Bodhi avalanche isn't just a fluke after all. Maybe it's a celebaby name trend long (very long) in the making. We certainly feel enlightened.
