In this crazy-busy world we live in, it helps to have a couple of go-to stress busters up your sleeve, whether it’s hitting the gym, daily mantras, or opening a really good bottle of red. Sure, we have our favorites, but we’re always on the look out for more.
And, David Beckham might be responsible for our new favorite trick. The former footballer shared with The Sunday Times that he likes to unwind with Legos. Yes, those plastic building blocks of your childhood.
Beckham reveals it’s one of his favorite ways to unwind with his children: “When they get home, we’ll often play one of their favorite games, like Connect Four. They also love Lego. So do I. The last big thing I made was Tower Bridge. It was amazing. I think Lego sometimes helps to calm me down.”
By his own admission, Beckham struggles with OCD, and in 2006, he discussed how the disorder affects him: "I've got this obsessive compulsive disorder where I have to have everything in a straight line or everything has to be in pairs. I'll put my Pepsi cans in the fridge, and if there's one too many then I'll put it in another cupboard somewhere," he explains, "I'll go into a hotel room, and before I can relax, I have to move all the leaflets and all the books and put them in a drawer. Everything has to be perfect."
We know the quest for perfection is both tempting and impossible, and we can totally understand how transferring this laser-sharp focus onto the clean, shiny, and colorful designs Lego offers might make things feel more manageable and less chaotic. Heck, we might even try it out for ourselves. Though we’ll leave Tower Bridge to Beckham and start on something a little simpler. (The Sunday Times)
