If you're the type to exchange presents with your numero uno on February 14 (even if that person is yourself), there's nothing less romantic than "Darling, I got it on sale." But, considering that the modern version of Valentine's Day is referred to as a Hallmark Holiday and even diamond engagement rings are a product of The Man, we say there's no shame in playing the same game. There's a little strategy involved in getting the best deal, and shopping tool Hukkster has been compiling a little information about the best time to hit "add to cart" on a few popular items. You know, so you can claim a little less of a share in Valentine's Day's $18.6 billion industry.
If you're buying jewelry, Hukkster recommends purchasing pieces in January. "Last year, we saw fine jewelry from popular retailers drop up to 64% the last week of January. We saw savings up to 55% on designer lingerie, and this year, we've already seen up to 40% off. But, these don't stay in stock long, so pull the trigger quickly!" In the market for a little black dress? Prices are lowest (over 60% discounts) during the first week of February. And, for the procrastinators this year: If no one's going to be upset about a belated gift or an IOU, there are tons of promotional codes offered on Valentine's Day at a variety of online retailers (up to 71% off). So, show your mate, yourself, and your wallet a little love this season.
