The Best Of Brooklyn Design In One Beautiful Coffee-Table Book

If you've lived in any part of Brooklyn in the last 10 years, you've definitely seen change. From the burgeoning art scenes to sprawling gentrification, new parks to new landmarks — the borough of Kings has evolved a lot.
And, now we can see it develop visually in the new coffee-table book Design Brooklyn: Renovation, Restoration, Innovation by Anne Hellman. With more than 150 photos, it gives a well-rounded view of the cultural and neighborhood trends and shifts, and illustrates both residential and commercial interiors and exteriors. It's basically pure eye candy for anyone who loves decorating or architecture. We flipped through the whole thing, cover to cover, in one sitting. And, while it's impossible to choose favorites, we love Flavor Paper's office in Boerum Hill, Beastie Boy Mike D.'s townhouse, and the sweet (and delicious) restaurant Rucola. There is just so much inspiration here.
If you want to hear more about the book, Hellman, along with fashion and interiors photographer Michel Arnaud, will be doing a Q&A panel at one of our favorite bookstores, BookCourt in Cobble Hill, this Thursday. Stop by, and join in the design conversation.
When: Thursday, January 30
Where: BookCourt, 163 Court St., Brooklyn
Time: 7 p.m.
