Following Richard Stengel's departure to work for the State Department, Time magazine has named Nancy Gibbs as its new managing editor — the first female to take the position, ever. Gibbs has been with the publication for 28 years and has been the deputy managing editor since 2011. And with a record 174 cover stories under her belt, we're gonna say she knows what she's doing. According to Time, Gibbs will be the magazine's 17th managing editor since its founding in 1923. She joins editor-in-chief Martha Nelson, marking Time's active role in the changing face of journalism.
